I met a friend of mine at St Erman’s Hotel for a simple coffee. We noticed there was a tea area, and when I heard there was afternoon tea I thought why not. Oddly, I asked the waitress downstairs in the lounge if I could make a booking and she said they were full. But when I went up to tea room, it was totally empty in the concierge couldn’t believe they wouldn’t let me make a reservation.
Anyway, logistics aside, the service really was outstanding. Very nice and super attentive. The actual space itself was well done and quiet, it’s actually on the mezzanine level so none of the noise from the hotel lobby is apparent.
The English breakfast tea was dark and robust with limited, bitter, just how I like it
The food itself I would say was OK. The highlight of the sandwiches was actually the smoked salmon wrap, while the rest were pretty standard the scones were a little doughy, and the pastries were slightly sweet, but all in all nothing to complain about.
My bill ended up being £52, and for that price he really can’t go wrong with such a nice space in central London.
