United Kingdom | | Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon
Fortnum & Mason serves its afternoon tea in the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, a fourth-floor venue inaugurated by Queen Elizabeth II in 2012. Located in Piccadilly, the salon features live pianist performances and eau-de-nil decor. Unique menu variations include a savory afternoon tea with goat’s cheese scones and lobster mousse, a high tea with hot dishes like beef Wellington, and a dedicated children’s menu. Expert tearistas advise on over 150 rare and signature tea blends.

For £80 per person, you expect a certain level of quality. Unfortunately, the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon falls short.
The selection of finger sandwiches is uninspired—cucumber and egg salad, really? The service is also lacking; I shouldn't have to ask for fresh plates and cutlery for dessert, or for fresh cups of tea. The desserts appeared to be hastily prepared, with some noticeably skewed.
The only positive aspect was the inclusion of a cake, which other places don't offer. However, I can easily think of three other venues in London that provide a better experience for the same price.

Honestly I was expecting so much more from the F&M afternoon tea, especially for £85!
Comparable priced AT in London pull out all the stops, they have a small appetizer, unique sandwiches, and seriously good dessert. F&M was basically average across all aspects of the food, nothing unique - ordinary. For example, Ham Yard down the street is superior for 30% less.
The worst part was the service. The guy was nice enough, but certainly not attentive enough for the price. No water refills, no tea refills, no explanation of the desserts, no scone refills - he asked basically when he brought the check.
F&M should either charge £60 for the AT or seriously up its standards, currently it is absolutely not worth a stop compared to so many better options in London.
